Applications

Robots are used in many different fields.  They range in use from Medical equipment to Bomb detenation.  For example the Bomb Squad uses robots to open potentially dangerous packages or boxes.  Also robots are used in programs like BattleBots.  BattleBots is a game in which people build their own robots and battle each other in the BattleBox, which is the special arena set up for the fight.  Currently a project is underway in which a robot named Pioneer will be used to explore the Chernobyl blast site.
